One Year Later
Last night was the National Book Awards ceremony. A year ago, I withdrew my sponsorship and wrote about why right here on Substack. You can watch last night’s event on YouTube and see for yourself what the winners said — but here is the Associated Press article about it by Hillel Italie.

Speaking of awards….
I was honored with the 92nd Street Y’s Champion Award as one of their 2024 Extraordinary Women. What a dream come true. This 4-minute video, which they produced and aired at the event, pretty much sums everything I do and why.

And if you really wish you’d been there and want to see my speech plus those of the other honorees, you can watch the hour-long ceremony, below. (My award was first!)
The whole event was flawlessly executed with dance and singing performances by worldwide stars. Congratulations also to Erin Pond Friedland, my dear friend and fellow extraordinary woman!!

Warmly,
I can’t believe it’s been a year, wow. So much has happened and so much still needs to. Congrats on your well deserved 92nd St Y award and on the access of OBJN which I’m appreciating as I make my way through essays by friends and familiar names 🩵
Tautology to condemn antisemitism and in the same breath defend the free expression of antisemitism. So glad Owens withdrew sponsorship.
