Hi everyone! Three quick things:
Artists Against Antisemitism. I’ve joined the Founding Author team of 30+ women writers in an organization that launched two days ago! Artists Against Antisemitism is designed to raise funds to eradicate antisemitism, facilitate communication, and raise awareness. Our first big endeavor is a silent auction that starts December 15th and runs through December 22nd. I would LOVE for you to all get involved. You can sign up as a subscriber/supporter or a Leadership Team member (think: committee). We need help getting silent auction donations of all types! Learn more here and follow us on Instagram. And yes, I built the website and am doing the newsletters and email marketing for now. No, I don’t have time. But I feel compelled. Finally I feel like I’m doing something about the issues that feel so out of my control.
How to Dance in Ohio. Last week, I took one of my kids to theater to see “How to Dance in Ohio,” a brand-new Broadway play — still in previews! It’s about seven college-age autistic teenagers, their parents, and the social skills group therapy they attend — and what happens when their therapist and his injured Julliard-dancer daughter decide they should put on a spring formal. It also stars seven autistic actors. It’s really about letting go, parenthood, love, and growing up. I cried and cried. IT WAS SO GOOD. You all must go see it. The standing ovation at the end? Perfection. See discount code below for families, students, and educators through February 25th!!
Zibby’s Bookshop (+ Austin Retreat). So I’m sitting in my bookstore now and it’s buzzing!! (If you’re in L.A. today, pop by from 4 pm - 8 pm for the Montana Avenue Holiday Walk! I’ll be here for a few more hours.) If you’re looking for some great holiday gifts, consider a gift card, a candle, reading glasses, a nightlight, tote bags, sweatshirts, or other swag. But really, consider calling our store or emailing and letting one of our expert booksellers curate some BOOK SUGGESTIONS for your loved ones which we can ship out. Email info@zibbysbookshop.com or call (424) 387-1744. Don’t forget you can add on a Zibby Class, a ticket to a Zibby Retreat like to Austin in February (just released!!!), a class or more!
Okay, that’s it. Enjoy your weekend!
Hi, Zibby, I heard about artists against antisemitism through Alison Hammer and immediately signed up. I just uploaded my silent auction donation. Thank you to all of you for being a strong, proactive force during this difficult time. I can only image the passion "in the room where it happened." This has pulled me from the spiral of fear. I am doing something! And I'm spreading the word with the hope we can reach even more creatives and allies.
Happy to help in whatever writing capacity I can! Just followed the artist group on instagram
